“A Great Blog is…”
”A Great Blog Reader is…”
Thank you Lisa @ sheslosingitdotnet.wordpress.com for nominating me for this award! Hers is one of the first blogs I followed and I love her
fit body eyes posts.
My nominations for best team members are…
My sentence to finish was: “A great Reader is…”
A great reader is someone who responds to posts with thoughtful responses and questions. Participates in dialogue, not just sits and reads without posting any responses. I know for me, there are some days/weeks where I just do not have time or energy to respond to every post I read, but I try to respond at least once or twice a day. A great reader is positive and supportive. Criticism is only warranted when it is solicited and/or constructive and adds to the conversation. Overall, a great reader is someone who truly appreciates the posts a blogger writes and shows it. (I do not mind if someone posts to tell me I have a typo as I do not always read my posts after they are written.)
Well, anyone following me has not had much to read from me for awhile. Life has stepped in and said, ‘Mine! I want attention!’ So I had to care for family and household for a few days. Turns out my wife is allergic to just the aroma of peppers now. Life has a cruel sense of humor. She almost passed out from anaphylacsis while we were in the pool with our children Sunday, so the rest of the day was shot. Yesterday was more about recovery than anything else.
Needless to say, workouts for a few days have been
restraint from releasing my shut-in children back into the wild where they belong core and weights. Tonight looks like I can get back on schedule for intervals. I may do a longer run and work in both a tempo and intervals. Tomorrow is still a heat run, probably 10 miles to the local Sport Chalet.
I will work a little on the awards today after I get some of that garage cleaned up. I will not show any pics until I am done for fear that someone will call in Hoarders on me.
Today was a topper with taking my car in for service in preparation for the trip to Sedona. Turns out, I need about $1,500 of work done with another $500 waiting in the very near future. Life is my friend, life is my friend, life is my friend (who does not want to lend me any money today).
1. I will get more awards finished this weekend.
2. I do not really feel like blogging right now.
3. I am incredibly happy there have been a lot of posts to read today!
4. I have a paper to edit so it may take awhile (no run tonight but weights instead).
5. I have to go into my garage (probably tomorrow) and sort through it so I can fit at least one car in from the summer swelter.
Why am I blogging this and why should you care? I blog it because announcing intention to do something helps one to do it. (OMG, what will they think if I don’t do it? Not that I care, but the human mind still works that way). You should care because you care enough to read this. How much care y have depends on you. More another time. Love you all.
I did not post my workout this week. There is a reason, it is not working. I know I set goals for this month, but I do not think those goals were working for me. I did not include enough down time. It was in the back of my mind but I was on a roll. Going forward, I will be doing:
Monday – intervals
Tuesday – tempo
Wednesday – AM heat run
– PM intervals
Thursday – cross-training
Friday – long slow 70%HR
Saturday – long slow 80%HR
Sunday – rest day
Each day will include 45 minutes of core and strength.
Nutrition will continue to be juice. I include electrolyte gels, pre-workout, and recovery Vega drinks on my longer runs and I avoid products that have caffeine.
I am thankful that I came to the realization of the unrealistic schedule I had tried. I need to be able to be with my children and wife during the day and that previous schedule would have wiped me out so much that I would not be physically able to be present around them.
I am thankful I am able to be with my family as much as I am right now. I am thankful for the weather here. I want to run Badwater someday and this weather is perfect for training for that race.
I am thankful that I can even think about running in such a race. I am thankful that my Garmin has not completely died yet (even though the thing sometimes records that my HR is 225 even though I have only been working out for 45 seconds).
I am grateful for my friends. I am grateful to have known the father of one of my friends who passed away this last week. My thoughts and prayers are with my friend and his family even more these days.
I am grateful for all the blogs I read every day. I love the ideas and information I get. I am also grateful for getting to know all these people from all over the world. I feel that I am better for knowing all of them.
I am grateful I have found pre made roasted peppers. Roasting them myself would be fine but my wife is allergic and just cooking them could cause a reaction. Finding the canned ones to add to my hummus has really alleviated that burden.
Thank you all for reading. Sending you Light and Love.
